North Face Recon Backpack

Another versatile day pack, the North Face Recon backpack has a strong reputation for being a "stout beast" and "stuff hauler". Besides the regular side mesh pockts, two additional mesh drop pockets on the front provide extra storage space for your wet gym clothes, muddy shoes, bike helmet or rain jacket.

Inside the main compartment holds everything you need for a day at school or college. A padded laptop sleeve secures your machine and doubles as a bladder pocket when hiking instead of working.

Many users complimented the pocket placements and their easy access, plus the pack doesn't feel bulky when fully loaded due to good support from the back panel and straps.

A tough pack that will last for many years, users complained that the waist strap was not that functional, hard to tuck away and long, loose belt ends tend to get in the way. Some preferred D-rings to the elastic bands on the shoulder straps and wanted a zipper pocket in the organizer for small items.

Used by both men and women, the straps may not tighten up to fit petite users who like to wear the pack high on their back. Overall the Recon is a lightweight, durable and reliable day pack.
