Lost It And Then Found It!

by Gutsy Girl

When I finished my A-Levels, I went home by train from Kuala Lumpur to Butterworth with a few other friends. I stowed my favorite denim backpack on the overhead compartment. It had a pull string opening and a zippered rectangle pouch upfront. There was a tiny hole in one corner and I bought it cheap from the night market. It was so nice and comfortable to lug it around everywhere I went.

It had my tennis racket, all my boyfriend's love letters sent over the whole year and a whole lot of other personal stuff.

We had so much fun on that night train.. six 19-year-old girls, chatting non-stop because our big exam was over and we were all looking forward to our big holiday in Penang.

Needless to say, the holiday passed quickly and I did not even notice that I actually left behind my backpack in the train until one day... someone from the train station in Butterworth called my house and my uncle brought back the booty and put it on the dining table at home.

Oh boy! It was so embarrassing and also such a relief all at the same time. The reason the KTM worker knew my address was because of the address they saw on the envelopes of my love letters.

Funny thing was, I totally forgot about the denim backpack as well. Some of my brain cells must have been totally fried after slogging for the exam.
