With enough capacity for day hikes and overnight camping, there is a large front pocket, a sleeping bag compartment and mesh water bottle pockets.

A ventilated back panel, padded waistbelt and foam-filled shoulder straps provide cool, cushioned comfort. To keep the pack load balanced, belt stabilizers combine with an adjustable chest strap for on the trail changes.

Hikers praised the convenience of all the pockets and the easy ability to lash gear, like ground pads, to the frame. The aluminum external frame allows more airflow to keep the sweat off your pack and adjusts well to keep weight on your hips.

And with such good storage on the outside, hikers are not forced to buy compact gear necessary for some internal frame packs.

Colors available: Woods Green

Made for pre-teens getting their first taste of carrying their own gear, the Jr. Tioga gives your child a chance to grow in many ways. The adjustable H-frame allows for growth spurts and a sense of independence may kick in as well.

To fend off heat, the Jr. Tioga includes a breathable back panel and hydration system to keep things cool inside and out.

Parents just need to spend some time adjusting and keeping an eye on the hipbelt and sternum strap to find the best positions during a hike. With a wide range of adjustable torso sizes, the pack fits small sizes well and lasts for years.

Among the complaints by young hikers, the external frame tends to hit the child's head when standing fully upright. This may be due to improper fitting, so be aware to make changes or ask about bending the frame back.

The pack provides support by two aluminum stays and is held steady with belt stabilizers and a chest strap. For comfort, a padded waistbelt, shoulder straps and back panel ventilate to wick off moisture and load lifters help keep the weight of tender shoulders.

For thirsty hikers, there are two mesh water bottle pockets and a reservoir sleeve to place a water bladder with hydration ports built in. There are also lash tabs and loops to clip gear or stuffed animals onto the pack.

The biggest concern for parents is making sure that a child does not carry too much weight. Remember that a small child can only carry 10%-15% of their body weight and you need to factor in the weight of the bag itself.
