Please be aware that this Gerry backpack, sold under the name of TrailTech Baby Carrier, was originally recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in July 2000.

The main problem with the backpack regards the large leg holes that allow small kids to shift over and fall through, resulting in head and other injuries.

Although production stopped and over 100,000 packs were recalled, there may be old stocks and resales available from online resellers such as eBay and Craigslist, among other community forums, flea markets and yard sales. Consumers need to know that the Safety Commission still seeks information regarding hazards of this Gerry product.

The Gerry company was bought out by EvenFlo, who now responds to questions concerning this product. Without any repair kits or spare parts available, the TrailTech is recommended to be destroyed to avoid harmful accidents.
