Deuter Futura Pro 34 SL
(Day Hikes, Overnighter, Travel - 2100ci/34L)

Deuter began making packs specifically for women in 2005 and now every line includes these SL models. The design includes narrower and shorter shoulder straps and shorter back system proportions to fit hikers up to 5 ft. 7 in. So men can also wear these packs, if they fit these conditions.

With a maximum load of 30 pounds, the Futura Pro 34 is perfect for overnight camping and light weekend travel. The Aircomfort Pro suspension circulates fresh air to provide extra cooling comfort and the spring steel frame maintains tension to arc the mesh back panel for ventilation and overall support.

The pack features easy torso adjustments that suit petite sizes for proper weight distribution and load balance. The main storage compartment has zippered access to a lower compartment that allows for convenient top and bottom access to gear.

Two deep side mesh pockets are good for carrying shoes and other bulky items and a front stash pocket keeps maps, compass and other items within reach. The pack is also hydration compatible with a reservoir pocket and drink tube ports.

Many women users found the pack to be a good fit with adjustments for shorter torso lengths and loads well balanced if kept under 25 pounds. The rain cover also kept contents dry, even in downpours. Some users noted that a full water bladder takes up too much space and the lack of bottom straps and limited attachment options prevents adding more gear on the outside.

The ACT Trail series provides stability and comfort for technical dayhiking activities that require a lightweight pack and abrasion resistant material.

As a full contact pack, the Trail 32 includes the Aircomfort ventilation system and airmesh fabrics allow breathability for comfort along body contact points.

The hip pads and hipbelt wrap around the body for stability and lateral movement control when going at a faster pace on the trail. For better access, the two-way zip on the front panel provides quicker access to gear inside when you don't want to unclip the top lid.

A large front mesh pocket keeps your rain gear handy or lets you keep your wet clothes separate from the clean stuff. On the sides, one mesh and one zip pocket give you options for outside storage.

Users liked the pack's performance in snow and light rain without any wetting and gave it high marks for having a lot of features for its size. It was deemed "incredibly functional" for all occasions, whether hiking in canyons or the backcountry.

Rated to carry only 25 pounds, the Aircomfort suspension system provides comfort by allowing air to circulate through a mesh back panel for ventilation and support with a spring steel frame.

The capacity is just right for long day hikes, overnight camping and off-trail climbing with enough storage space in main compartment, a front stash pocket and a top lid with two separate pockets for emergency gear and essentials.

Two side mesh pockets are large enough for liter bottles and the front stretch pocket is handy for a jacket, rain gear or even wet clothes. Compression straps on the sides also double to add on accessories.

Noted as an "all around day hiking pack" by users, the Zero 30 has good balance and stays above your hips for greater movement. Hikers found it to be very comfortable with loads up to 20 pounds, even in hot weather, and fairly waterproof to protect camera gear.

Among the dislikes reported, the hipbelt pocket needs to be bigger, it lacks a spindrift collar and some wanted more pockets for organization.

A very popular choice for day hikers, the lightweight Futura 28 offers top notch features for excellent comfort on outdoor adventures or urban commutes. The pack combines the Aircomfort ventilation system for continuous airflow that reduces sweat from backs even in rainy or humid conditions.

Organizational features include a divided main compartment with top and bottom access that separates out camera gear or wet clothes to keep it all safe and/or dry. An integrated rain cover tucked away in the pack bottom to pull out whenever the weather or conditions call for extra protection.

Two side mesh pockets, a front stash pocket and an internal pocket for valuables provide storage options for a total load recommendation of 20 pounds.

Users appreciated the high quality features and comfortable suspension system that performed well in summer and winter bike commutes. Others considered the pack to be perfect for day hikes.
